What we do differently is unglamorous. Before quoting anything on a door less than about ten years old, we ask whether there is paperwork from the original install, and if there is, we read it. That one habit has saved customers more money than every discount we have ever offered.

Why It Matters So Much Here

Two things collide in this city. The first is that garage door warranties are layered rather than single, so a door can be simultaneously under warranty and completely uncovered for the fault in front of you. The second is salt.

Marine air does not care what the brochure said. It gets into hinge pins, roller bearings, the underside of the bottom section and every fastener holding the track to the jamb. And a very large share of finish and corrosion warranties either exclude coastal environments outright, cut the term sharply within a set distance of the water, or condition it on a rinse and inspection routine that nobody mentioned at handover.

So the sentence we say most often on a first phone call is that the door is probably still covered, and the thing that broke probably is not.

What We Will Not Do

We will not put a spring replacement on a payment plan. It is a two to four hundred dollar job that takes about an hour, and attaching finance to it turns a small bill into a small debt with fees on top.

We will not quote a new door when a gear kit, a logic board or a set of rollers would give you another decade. Openers get replaced when they are genuinely finished, or when a unit predates the California requirement for opener battery backup on new installs, which took effect in July 2019 and matters here every time the power goes out in a storm.

And if the fault is genuinely covered under a live manufacturer warranty, we will tell you to file the claim through the authorised channel even though it means we do not get the work.

The Honest Summary

Most people who call us need a repair, not a replacement. Most of those repairs are not covered by anything. Knowing that before the van arrives is worth more than a coupon.
